Dragan Plavsic
With over a decade of patent law experience, Dragan is well-versed in providing strategic IP counseling to clients, including preparation and prosecution of patent applications in a variety of technologies. In addition, he is experienced in Patent Trial and Appeal Board proceedings and patent litigation. The range of services that he provides further includes validity opinions, freedom to operate opinions, and due diligence investigations. With this broad set of tools, Dragan counsels clients on developing and enforcing a global patent portfolio, competitor monitoring, and challenging competitor patents.
Before joining Jones Robb, Dragan worked in the patent practice of a large law firm as well as at a patent boutique law firm, where he gained experience in Inter Partes Review Proceedings and litigation, in addition to counseling clients on patent portfolios in a wide range of mechanical, electrical and software technologies. His past litigation experience involved drafting claim construction (Markman) briefs, invalidity and infringement contentions, and responses to discovery requests. This background is instrumental to Dragan’s ability to consider enforcement and litigation issues when developing patent portfolios for clients.
Prior to his legal career, Dragan had a successful engineering career at Schlumberger Oilfield Services Corporation. During his engineering career, he handled real-time data acquisition, processing and interpretation, telemetry technologies, and a variety of well exploration, completion and production technologies. Dragan was at first a field engineer, then a service quality coach, and eventually a field service manager.
