Eric Maughan
Eric Maughan has over seven years experience practicing patent law, including preparing and prosecuting patent applications (domestic and foreign, utility and design); developing and managing worldwide patent portfolios; and providing infringement, invalidity, and non-infringement opinions. Eric is skilled at patenting electrical, mechanical, and software inventions. He has significant experience working with technologies in fields such as: consumer electronics and semiconductor devices (at the system level, circuit level, and component level); computers and IT systems, including both hardware and software; telecommunications; machine learning; and automotive parts. For example, Eric has worked with OLED and LCD displays, solid-state imaging devices, computer memory, analog and digital circuits, lasers, electro-optical transceivers, storage arrays, wireless access points, network switches/routers, cloud computing, server cooling systems, server power systems, server mechanical components, photonics, neural networks, machine learning algorithms, LTE networks, and fiber optic networks.
Prior to joining Jones Robb, Eric was patent counsel at Hewlett Packard Enterprise. He has also worked as an attorney at an intellectual property law firm in Washington, D.C.
