Barrie Rody has practiced patent law for over 15 years. This includes over 11 years of In-house Counsel experience managing large portfolios of U.S. and foreign patents and applications. Barrie has drafted and prosecuted patent applications for a wide variety of clients and technologies, primarily in all aspects of computer systems and consumer electronics for both hardware and software. Barrie’s experience has focused most recently in cybersecurity, including identity protection; mobile, IoT, and network security; and privacy. Prior technical experience has also included telecommunications, semiconductors, fuel cells and many other electrical and mechanical inventions. Barrie also has significant experience managing corporate Open-Source software usage and the copyright issues surrounding such usage.
Prior to joining Jones Robb, Barrie was Senior Corporate Counsel at NortonLifeLock (now Gen Digital) for over 10 years. Prior to patent law, Barrie had a successful career in Systems Administration for various companies in Canada and Silicon Valley.
